COVID-19 has had a negative effect on the economy as a whole. As an Animal Welfare Organisation, we immediately became concerned about how that would effect the animals in the disadvantaged areas. Without COVID-19, there is already a huge issue when it comes to hungry animals, animal neglect, animal abuse etc. This pandemic, would only make things a lot worse. We have had to shift our focus and start with the basics – trying to get food to animals in need. We were lucky enough to team up with local human organisations that were happy to distribute pet food along with their human food parcels. We managed to round up 150 food parcels (dog&cat food) and send it off for distribution between the different human organisations. They have all the necessary policies and procedures in place, as well as a well defined list of who is in dire need. The pet food was well received by many different households in need. We will continue to round up pet food so that we can have an on-going supply throughout this difficult time.
We are asking the public to consider the following:
- Donating via our donation platform using the reference ‘food’.
- Donating in general to help with any of the on-going needs during this time.
- Dropping dog&cat food off at our office in Brooklyn – please call to confirm times.
- Donating food via the Dogbox project or any other platform that allows delivery, making it safer for everyone.
We ask that each individual donating email us on firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can acknowledge your support.
