SAGE and FERN are a bonded mom and son.
They are the sweetest, gentlest, softest cats.
Sage was initially a little skittish, so it was important to approach her slowly and gently. She has since shown herself to be a very singular and determined cat, very sure of who she is and quietly confident. She approaches for pets when she wants to, and leaves once she’s had her fill of the attention. She speaks very rarely and usually only to let you know where she is or if she would like something. She purrs occasionally. She did however, surprise me with just how very cat she is when she thrashed through the blinds trying to take down a tiny lizard a few days after she arrived.
Fern is also very gentle, even when he plays. He’s a teenager, so still growing but he’s already bigger than his mom and this can weigh in his favour when they playfight. He loves attention and purrs readily. He’s also not chatty but does soft miaows when asking for food or, as like his mom, he wants to show you something. They both chirrup a little on occasion too. He’s more playful than his mom – he has learnt to present himself at basin taps for fresh running water to drink – and tracksuit pant drawstrings provide some catch and defeat interest.
Although they have a few soft toys, they are both obsessed with a simple soft furry ball – a little bigger than pom pom size. Watching them get the zoomies together is hilarious and a great mood booster, no matter what you’re doing.
You could not ask for two more wonderful feline companions – they are a delight.
