Graafwater Phase 2 (final phase)
Phase 2 Complete!
On Thursday, 21 November 2024, we completed Phase 2 of the Graafwater Sterilization Campaign.
Total for Phase two: 200 animals sterilized (including the 3 sterilised during the sourcing phase)
GRAND TOTAL of Sterilizations for Phase one AND Phase two: 430 animals sterilised in Graafwater
Every animal that was sterilized received a care package, including:
- Dry & soft food
- Dewormer
- Core vaccinations (including rabies)
- Flea & tick treatment (critical in this region due to tick-borne diseases)
We are incredibly proud to have reached our target, and we’re confident that the positive impact on the health and well-being of the dogs and cats in Graafwater will be long-lasting. In a town with no nearby veterinary care, these efforts will not only reduce overpopulation but improve the overall health of the animals too.
But the impact doesn’t stop there. Beyond sterilizations, we’ve been able to assist many animals in other ways:
- Surrendered animals have been brought into our care, with many already adopted.
- Several animals have undergone rehabilitation and are now thriving.
- Numerous medical cases have been treated and restored to health.
- Many dogs received kennels and shelter for the first time in their lives, protecting them from the harsh elements.
We are beyond proud of what we’ve achieved in Graafwater and deeply grateful for everyone who made this campaign possible.
A huge thank you to: National Sterilization Project & Dancers Love Dogs for funding the sterilisations.
A big thank you to all of our private supporters & companies for their donations and ongoing encouragement!
A special thank you to our volunteers, who dedicated their time and energy to play an essential role in ensuring the smooth operation and success of the campaign. You were all truly amazing!
A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Elizna and her team at EnviroVet CVC for their exceptional dedication and hard work throughout both phases of the campaign.
Together, we’re making a real difference!
