Puppy Badge

R50 pm – will sterilise and vaccinate one animal per year

One female dog, and her offspring, if all left unsterilised, can lead to the birth of 67 000 puppies in 6 years.  A female cat, and her offspring, if left unsterilised, can lead to the birth of 66 088 kittens in 6 years.  This means every year hundreds of thousands of animals are born into a lifetime of suffering and neglect.  This is why sterilisation is such a vital and pro-active way to combat cruelty and suffering.  Thalia and her 5 puppies were rescued from a life of suffering.  She, as well as all 5 of her puppies were sterilised and rehomed to loving forever homes.  To date African Tails has sterilised over 16 000 animals.

Delta Badge

R100 pm – will allow us to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome one animal per year

Wile E Coyote was rescued during a sterilisation campaign in Mamre.  He was severely malnourished, sickly, he had mange and was emotionally shut down.  After much love, medical treatment and tender care he recovered fully and was adopted by a wonderful family where he goes out on amazing adventures and lives a happy life.  His adventures are documented on his very own Facebook page.

Pretty-Boy, now named Fig, had a severe open fracture on his hind leg and was in immense pain.  His owners neglected to find help for him, thus community members alerted us to his plight.  He was surrendered to African Tails and after a hospital stay where he needed his leg to be amputated, he was placed into foster care. His fosters fell in love with his quirky personality and handsome face, and decided to give him a forever home.

R300 pm – will pay for the shelter of 8 dogs per year

Throughout our sterilisation campaigns and the work that we do we encounter many animals that have less than adequate or no shelter from the elements.  We try to provide each animal that is sterilised with a decent kennel and blankets. We also educate the owner on how to properly care for the kennel and not leave wet blankets in the kennels.  This drastically improves the quality of life for these animals.
